What is NiQuitin Clear 7 mg and what is it used for?

NiQuitin Clear is a nicotine-releasing transdermal drug patch that is used to help you stop smoking through a treatment called Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

It comes in a pack of 14 patches.

Who it is for

Suitable for adults who want to stop smoking.

How to use

As your body adjusts to not smoking,reduce the dose of patches used until you no longer need them. This reduction programme allows you to gradually overcome your body's nicotine needs.

To increase your chances of success, it is important to complete the entire reduction programme.

Use a new patch every day. The patch should be worn only once for 24 hours. Do not use more than the recommended dose.

Heavily dependent smokers (more than 10 cigarettes a day )

For 6 weeks

Phase 1, NiQuitin Clear 21 mg/24 h, 1 patch per day

Weeks 7 and 8

Phase 2, NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h, 1 patch per day

Weeks 9 and 10

Phase 3, NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h, 1 patch per day

After 10 weeks

Patches may be continued if necessary* .

 

Lightly dependent smokers (less than 10 cigarettes per day )

For 6 weeks

Phase 2, NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h, 1 patch per day

Weeks 7 and 8

Phase 3, NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h, 1 patch per day

After 8 weeks

* Patches can be continued after the recommended 8 to 10 weeks if you need them to stay smoke-free. However, if you are still using them after 9 months, consult a health care professional.

Contraindications

Do not use Niquitin Clear 7 mg:

  • If you are under 12 years of age.
  • If you are a non-smoker or occasional smoker.
  • If you are allergic or hypersensitive to nicotine or to any of the ingredients of this medicine.

Please note that quitting smoking itself may produce some symptoms, such as feeling weak, dizziness, headache, cough and flu-like symptoms. Other symptoms that may also be related to withdrawal associated with quitting smoking include mood swings, insomnia, sleep disturbances, poor concentration, feelings of depression, irritability, anxiety, drowsiness, restlessness or nervousness.

Other adverse effects that have been observed:

  • Very common:skin reactions in the area where the patch is applied,sleep disturbances, including insomnia and abnormal dreams, nausea, vomiting,headache, dizziness.
  • Frequent:nervousness,tremor,difficulty breathing,sore or swollen throat,cough,indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, dry mouth,sweating,joint pain, muscle pain, chest pain, pain in the limbs,weakness or fatigue.
  • Rare:allergic reaction,increased heart rate, flu-like symptoms.
 
 
 

Compositio n

The active substance in Niquitin Clear is nicotine. The other excipients are: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate copolymer, Polyethylene Terephthalate, polyethylene film, polyisobutylene and printing ink.
