It is a medicine intended to treat anorexia of somatic or psychogenic origin in underweight patients, as an adjunctive treatment for the underlying disease, such as infectious or parasitic diseases (including convalescence), chronic diarrhoea, anorexia nervosa or depressive states in the elderly.
It comes in a convenient 200 ml bottle.
Suitable for use in adults and children over 2 years of age.
Dosage is to be determined by the doctor, according to the stage of treatment, body weight and age of the patient.
Do not use Mosegor:
In children under 2 years of age.
In cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
In patients with glaucoma, urinary retention, epilepsy, hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI), glucose or galactose absorption problems, or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency.
During pregnancy and lactation.
This medicine may cause caries.
Medical control when taken concomitantly with cisapride, sedative hypnotics, antihistamines.
As with all medicines, Mosegor may cause side effects:
Increased appetite, weight gain, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness.
Very rarely, nervous system disorders, urticaria, rash.
Each Mosegor tablet contains 0.5 mg of pizotifen as the active substance.
The other excipients are: Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), citric acid, disodium hydrogen phosphate, ethanol 96%, sucrose, sorbitol 70%, raspberry flavouring, maraschino flavouring and purified water.
It is important to take, along with this medication, treatment of the underlying disease.
Withdrawal of the drug should be medically supervised and gradual, as it may cause withdrawal syndrome (depression, tremor, nausea, anxiety, malaise, dizziness, sleep disturbances and weight loss).
