Periactin tablets are intended for use in adults and children from 2 years of age.
The recommended dosage of Periactin varies according to the age of the patient and the type of treatment to be followed:
Adults over 18 years of age:
Allergic process: 1 tablet every 8 hours (3 times a day).
Migraine: 1 tablet at the onset of symptoms, which may be repeated after half an hour. Maintenance treatment may be started with 1 tablet every 6 hours.
Adolescents aged 14 to 18 years: 1 tablet every 8 hours (3 times a day).
Children 7 to 14 years: give 1 tablet every 8 hours (3 times a day).
Children 2 to 6 years old: give 1/2 tablet every 12 hours (2 times a day).
Do not use Periactin tablets:
In children under 2 years of age.
In cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
In patients with asthma, porphyria, hereditary lactose or galactose intolerance, Lapp's lactase insufficiency or glucose or galactose malabsorption.

Increased appetite, weight gain, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting, diarrhoea, tachycardia.
Periactin 5 mg tablets contain 4 mg cyproheptadine hydrochloride as the active substance. The other excipients are: lactose and starch.
Periactin should be taken with food and not on an empty stomach.
It is advisable not to sunbathe for the duration of the treatment.
