Opticlude is a 3M patch specially designed for occlusive therapy in the treatment of common childhood eye disorders (strabismus, amblyopia and "lazy eye" coverage). It comes in a large size, measuring 8 x 5.7 cm.
The Opticlude patch is a therapeutic product designed by the 3M brand. It is characterised by the fact that it is made of breathable material. It is also hypoallergenic and can be applied to all skin types, including the most sensitive.
Its use is recommended as a complement to eye treatments for crossed eyes, strabismus and lazy eye. These disorders are very common in childhood. One way to contribute to their correction is to use the therapeutic patches.
It has a compress in the central part. In this way, it facilitates the absorption of eye secretions and helps to reduce moisture. This central compress is soft and its inner area is black to be totally occlusive.
It has a porous paper backing with interwoven rayon fibres; this part of the product is flesh-coloured. It is covered with acrylic adhesive that can be repositioned several times. It can be reused. Although the tape is adhered to the skin, it does not prevent the application of lotions and creams. The removal process is very easy, painless, leaves no residue and has little risk of irritation to the skin layer.
To stimulate the functions of the weak eye, the patch must be placed firmly on the eye. This article is anatomically shaped to fit the eye area of children. It does not contain latex, a substance that can cause itching, hives, swelling and even breathing difficulties, which can be life-threatening in some cases.
3M Opticlude Large Size Eye Patch 8 x 5.7 cm 20 units is indicated for children with visual problems, such as amblyopia and strabismus.
Before applying the patch, the skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried. This helps adhesion. Ask the child to close the eye to be covered, remove the protective paper and apply the adhesive tape. Be careful that there are no wrinkles around the covered area. Apply light pressure to ensure adhesion to the skin.
It is not recommended to apply this product when the epidermis is wet.
Slight irritation may occur when the patch is removed. If this or any other side effect is observed, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
