More specifically, it treats vulvovaginal candidiasis, a type of infection caused by a fungus commonly called Candida, by relieving the symptoms.

Common symptoms of candidiasis include itching, increased vaginal discharge, pain and redness of the vaginal and vulvar area, burning sensation when urinating and burning.
