It is a vaginal medicine formulated with clotrimazole, an active ingredient with antifungal action used to treat yeast infections, relieving their symptoms. Such symptoms are itching, burning, pain and increased vaginal discharge, burning sensation when urinating, and redness of the vaginal and vulvar area.
It comes in a pack containing 1 tablet of 500 mg.
Intended for use in women and adolescents over 12 years of age who suffer from uncomplicated vulvovaginal candidiasis, a type of infection caused by a fungus commonly known as Candida.
Take one vaginal tablet of Gine-Canesten 500 mg, preferably at night before going to bed. To ensure the correct functioning of this medicine, it is recommended to insert the tablet as deeply into the vagina as possible. As a rule, the application of a single tablet should be sufficient.
Do not use Gine-Canesten 500 mg:
- In children under 12 years of age.
- In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or to any of the ingredients included in this medicine.
- During menstruation.
Gine-Canesten tablet may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. Specifically, the following adverse reactions have been observed:
- Immune system disorders: allergic or hypersensitivity reaction, angioedema.
- Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, abdominal pain.
- Skin disorders: urticaria, rash.
- Vascular disorders: hypotension, syncope, hypotension.
- Respiratory disorders: shortness of breath.
- Application site disorders: changes in vaginal discharge, irritation, itching, erythema, scaling, burning in the genital area, vulvovaginal discomfort or pain, vaginal bleeding, oedema.
Each vaginal tablet of Gine Canestén contains 500 mg clotrimazole as the main active substance. The other excipients are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose (E460i), lactic acid (E270), calcium lactate pentahydrate, maize starch, hypromellose, colloidal anhydrous silica, crospovidone (E1202), magnesium stearate.
Gine canesten 500 mg is an antifungal medicine in tablet form indicated to treat vaginal infections caused by Candida, a fungus that causes increased discharge and characteristic odour, accompanied by itching and even burning when urinating.
It is applied vaginally after intimate hygiene, preferably at night before going to bed. It is very easy to use, thanks to its convenient applicator.
