What are antiviral essential oils?

They are characterised by their broad-spectrum antibiotic and antiviral properties that can improve health, prevent illness and strengthen the immune system. Do you want to know how they are applied and which ones are recommended? Keep reading; we tell you everything about antiviral essential oils.Prevention is key. To do this, it is essential to ventilate the work area and keep the environment clean to avoid the spread of viruses and bacteria. When an infection occurs, antiviral essential oils can promote fast, effective and natural healing. The great advantage of these essential oils is that they are safe for people of all ages. With the support of in vitro scientific research, they can produce a powerful broad-spectrum antiviral synergy. When the source of the illness is a virus, these oils attack the virus directly and inactivate it. In addition, they strengthen the immune system, prevent recurrences and are a model product for fighting all respiratory infections such as colds and bronchitis.

Antiviral essential oils

The three most common examples of antiviral essential oils are:

  • Ravintsara oil: it is an ideal option to strengthen the human immune system and prevent and treat coughs and various respiratory illnesses. It has an aroma similar to eucalyptus and, despite being so powerful, it is not a particularly strong essential oil, so it is well tolerated, without side effects, and even children can use it perfectly.
  • Black Spruce essential oil: it is a great antiseptic, relieves coughs and provides extra energy in cases of asthenia or fatigue.
  • Linalool Thyme Essential Oil: it can activate and strengthen the immune system, is expectorant and very suitable for respiratory illnesses. It has bactericidal and antiviral effects, and is a comprehensive solution for any type of pathogen.

How should they be used?

There are different ways to apply antiviral essential oils. Here we tell you how:

  • Use a diffuser first. Add 5 drops of each antiseptic essential oil to the diffuser to purify the environment and release microorganisms that may enter the human body through the air.
  • Direct inhalation. Add 5 drops to a handkerchief and inhale directly. In this way, the respiratory tract immediately appears decongested. Its balsamic, expectorant and antipyretic effects (lowering fever) help our body eradicate the infectious agent that causes the fever.
  • Application. Add 3 drops of the antiviral essential oils to 10 ml of a carrier vegetable oil. Spread the mixture over the chest, upper back and soles, preferably at night. If discomfort persists, it is recommended to reapply in the morning.
