Vitamins to take to support the immune system

At this time of sudden temperature changes, stress and viruses, it is necessary to have a strong and protected immune system to avoid infection. But... do you not know how to do it?In today’s post we want to tell you which these vitamins are and how they help support the immune system. So keep reading!

Vitamins to support the immune system

Vitamin A

Lymphocytes attack invading agents and help the body produce proteins called antibodies, which will keep future infections at bay. Vitamin A can be found in dairy products, broccoli, eggs and kale.

Vitamin B2

As well as strengthening the immune system with its antioxidant effect, it strengthens red blood cells. Vitamin B2 can be found in lean meats, eggs and green vegetables.

Vitamin B9 (folic acid)

It is very beneficial, especially in older age and ageing, because the production of “T lymphocytes” decreases in the body over the years, and this decrease can be mitigated with vitamin B9. We can find it in: egg yolk, liver and other offal, fruits such as melon, apricot and avocado, legumes...

Vitamin B6

It is considered the vitamin with an alarm function, but why? Because it acts in that way, signalling when an invading pathogen arises or appears in the body. Vitamin B6 can be found in: meat, fish, bananas, potatoes and tofu.

Vitamin C

It has been used for years for the treatment of the cold. The collagen in the nose, lungs and intestines is crucial when it comes to preventing pathogens from entering the body, and this collagen is made with a large amount of vitamin C. It also helps the immune system react to viruses and infections, increasing the production of white cells, enzymes and antibodies. We can consume it through citrus fruits, kiwis, berries, peppers and spinach.

Vitamin D

Helps fortify bones, being especially important during the first years of life, when bone growth must be optimal. It also supports muscles, helping to avoid tiredness and muscle weakness. It can be found in: fish oil and eggs.

Vitamin E

Strengthens the skin, helping us maintain the first barrier that protects the body against the action of germs we come into contact with every day. In addition, it has a high antioxidant potential that allows cell regeneration, which makes it recommended as a supplement in patients when low defences are a constant issue. Vitamin E can be found in vegetable oils, walnuts and other nuts, and seeds.
