Tips and products to protect your eyes at the beach and in the swimming pool

Swimming at the beach, in the pool or sunbathing can be dangerous for our eyesight. To make sure that does not happen, we are telling you how to care for your eyes at the beach and in the pool. Do not miss it!

Why should we care for our eyes at the beach and in the pool?

I am sure you all know that UV radiation can damage our eyes, especially in summer when its intensity is greater.

But... did you know that air conditioning or dry heat can too? The explanation is that both cause dry eyes, which leads to itching, discomfort, irritation and stinging.

And what about beach and pool water? Chlorine is made up of substances that can irritate our eyesight. The same applies to sea water and the bacteria found in it.

That is why it is advisable to wear diving or swimming goggles, especially if you are someone who likes to spend hours and hours in the water or you are curious and open your eyes to see what you can find on the seabed.

Tips for caring for our eyes at the beach and in the pool

  1. Sunglasses, our must-have. It is important that the lenses are good quality. Otherwise, we are not protecting our eyes as we should. Let us remember that UV radiation can be very harmful, especially in highly sensitive areas such as our eyesight.
  2. Not without my hat! Another accessory that cannot be missing from your look for the beach or pool. As well as protecting your eyes, you are also caring for your skin. So we cannot think of anything better to make sure we always wear it.
  3. Diving or swimming goggles. As we mentioned before, if you are like a fish and spend all day in the water, goggles will become your best friend.
  4. Eye cleansing. We are taking advantage of the summer season to remind you, although using specific products to clean our eyes is something we should do all year round. This will protect our eyesight from possible bacteria and other substances that cause irritation.
  5. Blink, blink! Why? Because that helps to hydrate them and in this way you can prevent dry eyes. Although if you need extra help, use artificial tears.
