Zoviduo is a topical medicine formulated with two active ingredients, acyclovir and hydrocortisone, to treat cold sores and reduce the likelihood of them developing into blisters. While acyclovir has antiviral action to help fight the virus, hydrocortisone reduces the inflammation of the cold sore.
In addition, whether or not the cold sore turns into a blister, this medicine reduces the healing process by 12 to 24 hours compared to any other cream that does not include acyclovir and hydrocortisone among its active ingredients.
