Continue treatment for about 5 days, which may be extended for up to 10 days. Apply 5 times a day, covering the affected area of the lip with a thin layer of product. Contraindications Do not use Viruderm: In children under 12 years of age. In case of allergy to acyclovir or to any of the ingredients present in this product. Side effects Viruderm may cause side effects, as with all other medicines, which may include: Infrequent: temporary burning or itching, slight dryness, scaling, itching. Rare: reddening of the skin, contact dermatitis. Very rare: immediate hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema (inflammatory process of the deep area of the skin that manifests itself with swelling of the throat or difficulty in swallowing or breathing). Composition Each gram of Viruderm ointment contains 50 mg of acyclovir as the active substance. The other excipients are: macrogol 4000 and macrogol 400. Pharmaceutical advice Viruderm is a topical medicine formulated with acyclovir, an antiviral active ingredient that fights herpes zoster, the virus responsible for cold sores, commonly known as fever blisters. Its use relieves the symptoms of burning and itching, and can be used in patients over 12 years of age. The recommended dosage is 1 application every 4 hours, bearing in mind that intense sun exposure should be avoided, as this product may increase photosensitivity.
