Periactin 4 mg is an antihistamine medicine intended to treat and improve the symptoms of allergic conditions. It may also be indicated for the prevention of migraine and other vascular headaches, as well as to stimulate appetite.

Periactin for allergies

Formulated with cyproheptadine, an active antihistamine used to treat the symptoms of various allergic manifestations, it is recommended in the following cases:

• Allergic rhinitis (whether seasonal or not).
• Allergic conjunctivitis.
• Acute or chronic urticaria.
• Allergic contact dermatitis.
• Angioedema.
• Pruritus or itching of allergic origin.
• Local allergic reactions such as those caused by insect bites.
• Complementary treatment in case of anaphylactic reactions, once the acute symptoms have been controlled.

Periactin for appetite

Can Periactin be used to whet the appetite? In addition to being an allergy medicine, Periactin is also used as an appetite stimulant. Cyproheptadine, because of its central anti-serotonergic effect, helps to increase the feeling of hunger.
