Men's Skincare and Shaving Tips

More and more men are concerned about blackheads, wrinkles or dark spots on the face and are starting a facial skincare routine. But when it comes to shaving... which products and steps should they follow? We are talking about men's skincare and shaving in today's post. Read on!

Shaving after a shower, because steam and hot water open up the pores and also soften the beard and make it more flexible, is one of the best tips for a proper shave.

But what about cleansing the face before shaving? This is another essential step in any men's skincare routine, using specific cleansing products for each skin type. This helps ensure the skin is in better condition.

Men's skincare and shaving

Pay close attention to these three steps you should follow when shaving so that your skin does not end up damaged or irritated:

Before shaving

Preparing the skin on the face with a good cleanse, and even exfoliation to open up the pores, a ritual few men follow, is a great extra step for achieving a perfect shave.

To do this, it is recommended to use an exfoliator once or twice a week to remove impurities and dead skin cells. In addition, if you use a moisturiser every night as part of your daily care, it will help the skin rest and regenerate.

During shaving

Gels, foams, soaps... formulas designed to soften the beard before the razor passes over it continue to grow with new ranges and innovations that do not irritate the skin. My recommendation? The products from the Avene Men range, as they make shaving easier while also protecting the skin.

Important: do not use very hot water, as this can irritate the skin more easily. Choose lukewarm water instead and you will notice better hydration in the hair.

It is also essential to choose the most suitable shaving product to soften the beard hair, make shaving easier and lubricate the skin so the blade glides more smoothly. Remember to moisten the blade before, during and after shaving.

After shaving

After every shave, we should apply an aftershave lotion that soothes and hydrates the skin and suits its needs. You can try the aftershave balm from the Vichy Homme range. Click here for more information.

If irritation appears, choose soothing products such as aloe vera or calendula. And if what you want is an extra boost of hydration, then glycerine-based formulations are the better option.
