Look Radiant with Vitamin C

Autumn begins, summer holidays are now forgotten, along with the sun and the good tone of our skin after resting and getting a little sunlight. Our face can look dull and lack radiance. Depigmenting treatments begin to remove those spots that bother us so much, and we already wrote a post about this on the blog

. Stress and tiredness also return at this time, so our face needs support to look radiant. That is why it is a good time to use vitamin C, and that is what we are going to talk about in this blog post.

- Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is a powerful antioxidant that neutralises free radicals caused by the action of the sun. It therefore prevents cellular damage that leads to photoageing.

- It intervenes in the synthesis mechanism of collagen and elastin, thereby reinforcing the dermal matrix: anti-wrinkle and firming action.

- It evens the tone and illuminates, which is why it has an adjuvant action in depigmenting treatments.

In the cosmetic market there are many types of vitamin C: serum, ampoules, creams, etc. One of the disadvantages of vitamin C is that it is very unstable; it oxidises quickly and this causes problems in its formulation.

Let us look at the types of vitamin C according to use

Occasional treatment

This is the pure form of vitamin C. It is formulated in ampoules that, once opened, have a use of 24 or 48 hours depending on the laboratory.

Flash ampoules

Repavar revitalising ampoules are flash ampoules with a high content of active vitamin C that illuminate and hydrate instantly, perfect for a special event, going out at night after a long working day or simply getting rid of that tired look.

Continuous treatment

Ampoules

Endocare C20 ampoules contain 20% pure vitamin C, 5% proteoglycans and 20% SCA, a patented and exclusive regenerating technology from Endocare. They can be for dry skin or oil-free for combination skin.

Serum

Sesderma C-Vit liposomal serum is perhaps the laboratory’s star product. It is an intensive shock treatment for skin photoageing. Recommended for dry, normal and combination skin, including acne-prone and rosacea-prone skin. Using it after cleansing and before cream enhances the effects of the later treatment. It contains stabilised vitamin C for daily treatment; here the flash effects are not so visible, although it also gives a good face, but its use is more firming and depigmenting. It can also be applied around the eye contour, maintaining a distance of 3-5 mm around the eye.

Cream

Here we have two types. Continuing with the Sesderma laboratory, we have C-Vit luminous fluid for normal or combination skin, or simply for those who prefer faster product absorption, and C-Vit cream for drier skin or for those who like a more nourishing texture, highly indicated for dull and matte skin. Firming and illuminating action.

Eye contour

Many laboratories have a good eye contour with vitamin C. At Sesderma we can find eye-contour patches that protect and reinforce the skin’s resistance. Signs of fatigue and dark circles are reduced, immediately improving the appearance of the eye contour. They are applied to the dark-circle and crow’s-feet area, left to act for 10-15 minutes and then removed.

At La Roche-Posay we find REDERMIC C Eyes, which combines 5% pure vitamin C, a leading anti-ageing active ingredient, and madecassoside, an active ingredient recognised for its skin-repairing properties, to intensify the synthesis of the skin’s filling and support fibres. It can be applied morning and/or night, outwards from the inner eye towards the temple.

Let us not forget sun protection. Because vitamin C is unstable, it can oxidise and darken the pore. That is why using sunscreen during continuous treatment with this vitamin is very important.

At topical level, these are some of the vitamin C products we can find on the market. We hope you have learned a little more about it and do not hesitate to ask us any questions.
