Double facial cleansing: what does it involve?

With two products in the same step, one oil-based and one water-based, for a deeper cleanse, making it easier to apply the next products in our routine. This is double facial cleansing and in today's post we tell you what it consists of.

Double facial cleansing is a routine in which, instead of applying a single product in one step, two cleansing products are used.

The first is oil-based, such as a make-up remover or micellar water, and the second is water-based, such as a cleansing gel.

What is double facial cleansing for?

What double cleansing achieves is deep cleansing of the skin, removing dead cells, improving texture and helping the following products we apply as part of our routine penetrate the skin better and act more effectively.

And do you have to follow the double facial cleansing routine at home morning and night? Ideally yes, but I am happy if you follow it at least once a day.

How to do double cleansing?

As we mentioned at the beginning of the post, the steps for double cleansing are only one step and two products. First, an oil-based product, which removes traces of make-up, pollution, sweat, sunscreen...

And then another water-based product, to deeply cleanse the skin now that it is free from traces of external agents, which act as a barrier on the skin and prevent other treatments we apply in our routine from penetrating properly.

We almost forgot! It is also important that, in the next step, before applying serum, eye contour and cream, we use a toner, to close pores, cleanse, refresh the skin, soothe and fight excess oil and shine.

Products for double facial cleansing at home

Although on the Farmaciasdirect website you can find a wide selection of products to include in your double cleansing facial routine, here is our recommendation:

Caudalie Cleansing Oil

As an oil-based product, we have this Caudalie cleansing oil. It comes in 150 ml and 75 ml formats, so you can take it with you when travelling. It deeply cleanses the skin, removing traces of make-up, even waterproof make-up, and particles from external agents.

In addition, it is non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types, as it has a non-greasy effect. This means combination and oily skin can use it without any problem.

To apply it, simply pour a couple of drops onto your fingers and apply it to the skin with a massage before rinsing with a little water.

Clinique Take The Day Off

A silky-textured cleansing balm that transforms into oil on contact with the skin.Clinique Take The Day Off easily dissolves even the most resistant make-up and leaves the face clean, soft and without a greasy feel. Ideal for sensitive skin and for those looking for effective but gentle cleansing.

CeraVe Cleansing Oil

CeraVe Cleansing Oil is perfect for dry or sensitive skin. Its formula with ceramides and essential lipids cleanses and hydrates at the same time, respecting the skin's natural barrier and avoiding a feeling of tightness.

Ducray Dexyane Cleansing Oil

And if your skin is very dry, atopic or prone to irritation, Ducray Dexyane Cleansing Oil is an excellent alternative. This oil cleanses, soothes and protects against dryness, providing an immediate feeling of comfort.

La Roche-Posay Cleansing Gel

And as a water-based product, we recommend La Roche-Posay cleansing gel from the Effaclar range, for combination and/or oily skin, or the Lipikar range for dry and/or sensitive skin.

They deeply cleanse the skin, leaving it clean and prepared for the next steps in the routine. In addition, it purifies and gets rid of imperfections. We apply it to the hand and mix it with a little water so that it foams, then spread it all over the face, also massaging it in.

Once this step is finished, rinse with plenty of water.

Now that you know why you should follow the double facial cleansing steps, are you going to try it? If you need advice because you do not know which products to include, ask us!
