Benefits of facial exfoliation

Facial exfoliation helps regenerate facial pores and remove dead skin cells. Today we will talk about the benefits of facial exfoliation and how to use it for each skin type. Keep reading!

The skin is the largest organ in our body, protecting us and helping to eliminate toxins from the body.

That is why it needs specific care, such as facial exfoliation, which helps regenerate pores and remove dead cells.

Although it is true that the skin renews itself naturally, usually every 28 days, different factors such as pollution, dirt and impurities can build up on the face, blocking pores and preventing the skin's natural renewal.

For this reason, it is advisable to exfoliate the face at least once a week, although this also depends on skin type.

Facial exfoliation according to skin type

Facial exfoliation can be performed on all skin types, although the frequency and type of exfoliant vary:

  • Sensitive skin. Use a hypoallergenic exfoliant every 15 days.
  • Dry skin. Use a gentle exfoliant once a week.
  • Oily skin. Use a facial exfoliant twice a week.

Facial exfoliation and its benefits

Among the benefits of exfoliation for facial care are:

  • Anti-ageing. It regenerates, oxygenates, activates blood circulation and helps prevent facial ageing.
  • Removal of dead cells. It prepares the skin so it feels toned and clean.
  • Facial renewal. It improves skin texture by helping toxins leave through facial pores.
  • Hydration of the face.
  • Improved appearance. It enhances a tan with a luminous, even colour, without marks. It also helps prevent puffiness.

It is important to note that moisturising creams, anti-ageing products and facial treatments work better on exfoliated skin, as they can penetrate more easily.

How do I use a facial exfoliant?

It is important to follow these steps:

  1. Rinse the face and neck.
  2. Apply a small amount of exfoliant to the palm of your hand.
  3. Use this amount on your forehead and spread it with circular movements towards the temples.
  4. Continue massaging the nose. Application in this area is important, as this is where dead cells tend to accumulate most.
  5. Move down to the cheeks (a sensitive area) using gentle circular movements.
  6. Move on to the chin, where you can massage a little more firmly.
  7. After spreading the product over the whole face and neck, rinse with plenty of water.
  8. After facial cleansing, apply the other creams you normally use.
