It is an emergency contraceptive medicine to be taken within 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex, or when the usual method has failed.
It comes in a pack of 1 tablet.
Intended for any woman of childbearing age.
Take 1 tablet orally as soon as possible, no later than 120 hours (5 days) after intercourse. It can be taken at any time during the menstrual cycle.
If vomiting occurs 3 hours after administration of the tablet, another tablet should be taken.
Do not use Ulipristal Mylan:
In case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
As a regular method of contraception.
If you are already pregnant.
Caution during breast-feeding.
It is recommended that breast-feeding be interrupted for at least one week after administration of ulipristal acetate as an emergency contraceptive. During this week, it is recommended that breast milk be expressed and discarded in order to further stimulate lactation.
Like all medicines, Ulipristal Mylan may cause side effects. In this case, the most frequently reported adverse reactions are: headache, nausea, abdominal pain and dysmenorrhoea, although there are other rare or infrequent reactions.
The active substance in Ulipristal Mylan is ulipristal acetate. Each tablet contains 30 milligrams of ulipristal acetate.The other excipients are lactose monohydrate, pregelatinised maize starch, sodium maize starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate and sodium starch.z, magnesium stearate, hypromellose (E464), hydroxypropylcellulose (E463), stearic acid (E570), talc (E553b), titanium dioxide (E171).
The tablet can be taken at any time of the cycle and of the day, either before, during or after a meal.
It is very important to note that it should not be used as a regular contraceptive and that if you have sex after taking it you should use a condom as a method of contraception until your next period.
