How to Have Healthy, Hydrated and Shiny Hair

Having healthy, hydrated and shiny hair is the result of giving your hair the attention it needs through good daily habits. With this, there is no doubt you will achieve a great improvement!

We are going to show you a few tricks so you can see that you can set yourself the goal of having much stronger hair without leaving home. It is important to take our hair type into account, as it can change over time and with your habits.

The 9 essential tricks for healthy hair

  • Brush it properly.A step as simple as brushing your hair more than once a day. Essential, even if it may not seem like it! We recommend twice a day, before washing it and at night before going to sleep. We recommend doing this before washing it because it helps us avoid tangles that form once it is wet, which can make it harder for the shampoo to reach every area. In addition, hair is at its weakest when damp, so it is more likely to break.
  • The water temperature. We recommend washing with lukewarm water, as this will help remove excess product completely, as happens with oils. We stress lukewarm rather than cold, because there is often confusion about the right temperature, and cold water will not dissolve grease. Hot water, on the other hand, is never good, as it will only dry out the hair. That said, once you have rinsed it well, you should run cold water over it for about ten seconds to seal the hair cuticle and stimulate blood circulation, in short, to achieve shinier hair.
  • An oil.Hair masks and conditioners are great allies for our hair, but the treatments that manage to repair the hair fibre without cutting it are oils. Oil restores the content of each hair fibre, creating that healthy shine we want for our hair.
  • For those loyal to hair masks. As we know, a hair mask should be applied to the hair twice a week and left on for 5 to 20 minutes before rinsing it out. It is very important that, if you have time, you leave it on for longer than usual, especially in summer, when we recommend that if you are going to wash your hair and then head to the pool, you try not to rinse the mask out completely. This will create a slight barrier and help prevent chlorine from penetrating directly.
  • Trim the ends.Despite the number of creams and treatments available to restore damaged ends, the best way to stimulate hair oxygenation and prevent dryness will always be a trim from time to time to encourage stronger, healthier hair, even if it pains us. It is worth it.
  • Protect it from the sun.Prolonged sun exposure, just as it is not recommended for the skin, is bad for our hair and can cause problems such as hair loss. To protect it, you can give it a nourishing treatment once a week or use styling creams with sun protection.
  • Avoid stress. We know that it can sometimes be difficult to control. Look for ways to relax that fit into your day-to-day life and your lifestyle if you find yourself in stressful situations too often. Stress affects hair health and can increase hair loss.
  • Natural ingredients.Products with honey, argan oil or avocado. If you have damaged or extremely dry hair, this is a good time to make the most of avocado. It repairs and protects, and helps with hair growth, softness and shine.

Nowadays we can find plenty of ingredients containing the vitamins we need for our hair to grow healthily. A good balance of vitamins from the B, D, E and H groups is essential.

In particular, vitamin B7 is essential for hair and nail growth. As with these options, there will always be excellent supplements, although it will never be better than getting them through food. Some examples of foods with vitamin B7 are eggs, oily fish, peas, walnuts and brewer's yeast.

However, just because we eat lots of them does not mean we will notice an immediate improvement. There are no miracle foods; the trick is to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. You need to eat a bit of everything and avoid fats to see results in the long term.

  • Drink more water.Water plays a fundamental role. It helps to hydrate the hair naturally and prevents weakening. An ideal amount for healthy hair would be two glasses in the morning, two at midday, two in the afternoon and one before bed.
