Food for sterilised senior dogs
Veterinary HPM Senior Dog Large & Medium is a complete diet for non-sterilised large breed dogs (> 25 kg) from 6 years of age and medium breed dogs (10 - 25 kg) from 8 years of age.
Virbac Senior Dog Large & Medium contains 32% protein, 84% of which is of animal origin.
The cellular processes responsible for ageing are intensified in older dogs, so key functions must be protected. Decreased activity levels cause a predisposition to muscle loss and difficulty in joint mobility.
Body weight control. As a consequence of age-related decreases in activity, dietary energy must be controlled to prevent overweight. A high protein and low carbohydrate concentration helps to maintain optimal body condition. L-carnitine supplementation limits the accumulation of fat tissue.
Moderate calorie intake. Low levels of fat and increased amounts of fibre help to reduce the energy in the diet, thus limiting calorie intake, appropriate to the requirements of mature dogs.
Preservation of muscle mass. The high level of protein helps to maintain muscle mass.
Joint and muscle support. The high level of protein and the chondroitin and chitosan supplements help to maintain strong muscles and bones.
Digestive tolerance. The low starch content helps to ensure that the feed is well tolerated by the animal's digestive system. The choice of prebiotics and probiotics regulate intestinal transit and contribute to a balanced intestinal flora.
