Ointment for the symptomatic relief of cough and nasal congestion in colds and flu.

This is an ointment used for the relief of coughs and nasal congestion associated with colds and flu. It can be used directly on the skin or diluted in warm water to inhale the vapours.
Intended for use by adults and children aged 6 years and over.
Apply a small amount of Vicks Vaporub ointment to the chest, neck and back, avoiding contact with eyes and mucous membranes. The application can be repeated up to a maximum of 3 times a day. The use of loose clothing is recommended to facilitate the inhalation of the vapours.
To enhance its inhalation action, a spoonful of hot water may be added and the vapours inhaled for 10-15 minutes. Do not use boiling water or reheat the mixture in the microwave.
Do not use VapoRub:
- In children under 6 years of age.
- In case of allergy to the active ingredients or to the other ingredients present in this medicinal product.
- In case of pregnancy or breast-feeding.
As with all medicines, Vicks Vaporub may cause side effects , but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. These are:
- Skin problems such as irritation, redness or allergic dermatitis.
- Eye irritation from inhalation of the product.
- Burns at the application site.
Each gram of Vicks VapoRub ointment contains the following active ingredients: 50 mg camphor, 50 mg turpentine essence, 27.5 mg menthol, 15 mg eucalyptus essence and 2.5 mg thymol. The other excipients are: cedar oil, petrolatum.
This medicine contains essences of turpentine and eucalyptus, as well as menthol and turpentine , very useful for relieving symptoms of cough and nasal congestion in both influenza and colds.
It can be applied on the chest, back or neck area, as well as on the soles of the feet. It is also recommended for deep inhalation of the vapours given off in a mixture of Vaporub with hot water.
