Strepsils is a honey and lemon-flavoured throat lozenge medicine, whose analgesic and antiseptic action contributes to the local relief of symptoms related to mild infections of the mouth and throat.
Active ingredients such as amylmethacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, both of which have antiseptic properties, help to soothe the symptoms of sore throat.
Although not specifically indicated, Strepsils for dry coughs may provide some relief if the cough is related to throat irritation. However, if the cough does not persist or does not improve, it is advisable to consult a doctor to identify the cause so that appropriate treatment can be given.

The use of Strepsils honey and lemon in pregnancy is not recommended as a precautionary measure due to lack of sufficient data on its safety. There is insufficient information on the effects of amylmethacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol in pregnant women.
Based on available information, Strepsils in lactation can be used with caution, although there are nuances depending on the formulation. There are no specific data on its excretion in breast milk, but it is considered to be of low risk due to its local action and low systemic absorption.

Each Strepsils Honey Lemon lozenge contains 0.6 mg amylmethacresol and 1.2 mg 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol as the main active ingredients. The other excipients are:tartaric acid, quinoline yellow (E-104), lemon essence (contains citral, geraniol, d-limonene and linalool), peppermint essence (contains d-limonene), sucrose, liguid glucose (contains starchy lime starch), linalool (contains d-limonene), linalool (contains linalool) and linalool (contains d-limonene).(contains wheat starch and sulphur dioxide (E-220)), honey (invert sugar).
