You may need to take it for 2 or 3 consecutive days before you notice any improvement. Benefits of Esomeprazole Sandoz Care Provides short-term relief from heartburn associated with reflux. It reduces acid regurgitation and a sour taste in the mouth. Contains 20 mg of esomeprazole per capsule. It is taken once a day. It can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. How should Esomeprazole Sandoz Care 20 mg be taken? The recommended dose is one Esomeprazole capsule per day. Do not exceed this dose, even if your symptoms do not improve immediately. Take the capsule at any time of day. Swallow it whole with half a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or open it, as it contains gastro-resistant granules. Stop taking it once your symptoms have completely disappeared. Do not continue taking it for more than 14 days. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. Do not take a double dose to make up for it. Who is it for? Esomeprazole by Sandoz Care is indicated for adults with occasional symptoms of reflux, such as heartburn or acid regurgitation. It must not be used in children or adolescents under 18 years of age. If your symptoms are frequent, persistent or change in nature, consult a doctor before taking it. When should it not be taken? Do not take Sandoz Care Esomeprazole in the following cases: If you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of its excipients. If you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors. If you are taking nelfinavir. If you have previously experienced a severe skin reaction after taking esomeprazole or another related medicine. It must not be taken in combination with other proton pump inhibitors or H2-antagonists intended to reduce acidity. Precautions before taking esomeprazole Consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have had a stomach ulcer or stomach surgery. You should also seek advice if you have severe liver or kidney problems. Seek professional advice if you have been taking medicines for acid reflux for four weeks or more. You should also do so if you are over 55 and your symptoms are new or have recently changed. Tell your healthcare professional if you are taking any other medicines, particularly clopidogrel, anticoagulants, digoxin, methotrexate, phenytoin, rifampicin, tacrolimus or St John’s wort. As a precaution, it is recommended that you avoid using this medicine during pregnancy. It should not be taken whilst breastfeeding without professional advice. Seek immediate medical advice if you experience unexplained weight loss, pain or difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools or severe, persistent diarrhoea. Possible side effects of Esomeprazole Like all medicines, it can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence, nausea and vomiting. Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, fainting, blisters, extensive peeling of the skin or a widespread rash accompanied by a fever. Composition of Sandoz Care Esomeprazole, 14 hard capsules Each capsule of Sandoz Care Esomeprazole contains 20 mg of esomeprazole. The excipients accompanying the active ingredient are: Capsule contents:Sugar spheres (containing maize starch and sucrose), methylcellulose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), glycerol monostearate 40–55, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulphate, methacrylic acid–ethyl acrylate copolymer and triethyl citrate. Capsule shell: Carrageenan, potassium chloride, red iron oxide (E-172), titanium dioxide (E-171), hypromellose, printing ink (contains shellac, potassium hydroxide and black iron oxide (E-172)).
