What is Salvacoline Oral Solution and what is it used for?
Salvacoline is an anti-diarrhoeal medicine that reduces bowel movements and secretions, resulting in a decrease in liquid stools.
It comes in a 100 ml bottle.
Who it is intended for
Formulated forthe symptomatictreatment of acute non-specific diarrhoea in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Directions for use
The recommended dosage varies according to the age of the patient:
- Adults: take 20 ml of oral solution (4 mg loperamide hydrochloride) as an initial dose, followed by 10 ml of oral solution (2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) after each diarrhoeal stool up to a maximum of 80 ml of oral solution daily (16 mg loperamide hydrochloride).
- Adolescents over 12 years of age: administer 10 ml of oral solution (2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) as an initial dose, followed by 10 ml of oral solution (2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) after each diarrhoeal stool.In children the maximum daily dose should be related to body weight:
