Native to Madagascar and also known as Cinnamomum camphora chemotype cineol, it grows wild in humid tropical forests and can grow up to 15 metres tall. Its leaves are oval, alternate, leathery and long, resistant and shiny on the upper part, reminiscent of its belonging to the lauraceae family. It flowers from November to January and produces a very characteristic berry.
