Place the nappy under the baby, making sure that the umbilical cut is well aligned to avoid rubbing against the navel. Tighten the side bands loosely. Watch the wetness indicator: it changes from yellow to blue when the nappy needs changing. Change after every bowel movement or if wet to the touch.
