Obire Borage & Evening Primrose is a food supplement made from borage and evening primrose oil, and it also contains optimal doses of vitamin E. Borage and evening primrose oils provide essential fatty acids that help regulate the inflammatory and painful processes, as well as the mood swings, associated with menstruation and the menopause. They also have emollient, moisturising and regulating properties, as well as promoting the regeneration of skin cells, which is why they are very often used to maintain youthful, healthy skin. The value of these oils for skin health stems from the fact that both contain, in varying proportions, an essential fatty acid known as GLA or gamma-linolenic acid.

This belongs to the omega-6 family and the body cannot produce it on its own, so it is important to obtain it through diet or supplements. GLA works by influencing the production of substances called prostaglandins, which, together with hormones, regulate cellular activity and help reduce water loss from the skin, whilst also exerting an anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin E works alongside the benefits of sheep’s wool and evening primrose; its antioxidant properties help protect cells from oxidative damage and, consequently, prevent premature skin ageing.
