RIGID TIP DIGITAL THERMOMETER

Easy to use
- Easy to read LCD display.
- A beep sounds when the measurement is finished.
- Fever alarm

Quick
- Measures temperature in 60 seconds
- Can be used orally, rectally or under the armpit

Accurate
- ± 0.1 Degrees Celsius
- Measuring range 32ºC - 42ºC.

How to use

1. Press the ONIOFF button next to the LCD display. A tone will be heard while {B BR is displayed, followed by the last recorded temperature. After displaying the self test temperature, the thermometer will enter measurement mode. If the temperature is lower than 32ºC or 90ºC, the display will show Lo, if the temperature is higher than 42.9ºC or 109.9º F the display will show HI.
2. Place the thermometer in the desired location (mouth, rectum or armpit).
a) Oral Use: Place the thermometer under the tongue, close the mouth and breathe regularly through the nose to prevent inhaled/exhaled air from influencing the measurement. Normal temperature is
between 35.70ºC and 37.3ºC (96.30ºF and 99.10ºF).
b) Rectal Use: Lubricate the silver tip of the probe with petroleum jelly to ease insertion. Gently insert the probe 1 cm (less than 1/2 ") into the rectum. Normal temperature is between 36.20ºC and 37.70ºC (97.20ºF and 99.90ºF).
c) Axillary Use: Dry the armpit. Place the probe in the armpit and keep the arm pressed firmly against the side. From a medical point of view, this method will always give inaccurate readings and should not be used if accurate measurements are required. Normal temperature is between 35.20C and 36.70C (95.40F and 98. IOF).

3. The degree signal flashes during the whole measuring process. When the flashing stops an alarm will beep for approx. 10 seconds. The reading will appear on the display at the same time. The minimum measuring time until the signal tone must be observed without exception. The measurement continues even after the acoustic notification. The displayed temperature will not change when the thermometer is removed from the measuring position.

4. To extend battery life, press the ONIOFF button to turn the unit off when measurement is completed. If not in use, the unit will automatically turn off after IO min.

5. Store the thermometer in the protective case.

RELIABLE METHODS FOR TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

BODY TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT: Change in body temperature is one of the most relevant indicators of illness. It is important that accurate temperatures are taken.
Although the device is used in a similar way to the glass thermometer, it is important that the simple instructions for use of this device are followed carefully and that the person taking the temperature is knowledgeable about body temperature.

BODY TEMPERATURE: A person's body temperature is normally a few tenths of a degree lower in the morning than in the late afternoon. Therefore, if your temperature is
36.6 °C in the morning, it could be 36.9 °C or higher in the late afternoon and be considered normal. To determine your normal body temperature, you should take your temperature both in the early morning and late afternoon over several days. Children have the same normal temperature range as adults. For both children and adults, a fever is generally defined as a temperature above 37.5°C. Exercise, overdressing, hot baths, hot weather,
hot food and drink can cause mild oral temperature rises of between 38.0°C and 38.4°C. If you suspect that one of these is the cause of an elevated reading, eliminate the possible cause and retake the temperature after half an hour.

ORAL USE
Place the probe correctly under the patient's tongue. Instruct the patient to keep their mouth closed while the thermometer is recording the reading. A normal temperature by this method is generally considered to be between 36.0°C and 37.5°C.

RECTAL USE
If your doctor recommends a rectal temperature, you can use a probe cover. Insert the thermometer into the probe cover. Lubricate the probe cover with a water soluble lubricating gel to ease insertion, do not use petroleum jelly, it may cause an inaccurate reading. Insert the probe tip no more than 1/2 inch into the rectum. STOP if any resistance is encountered. The sensing unit is located at the tip of the probe and it is not necessary to insert the probe deeply into the rectum. In general, rectal temperature is about 0.5°C to 1.0°C higher than oral temperature.
NOTE: Because petroleum jelly is an oil-soluble gel, it will cause a low temperature reading. If it is necessary to apply petroleum jelly, it is recommended to prolong the measurement independently of the beep and wait continuously for about 10 seconds.

UNDER ARM USE
Wipe the armpit with a dry towel. Place the probe in the patient's armpit and keep the patient's arm pressed firmly against the body. In general, the axillary temperature is approximately 0.5°C to 1.0°C lower than the oral temperature. Please note that, for best results in axillary temperature measurement, a minimum measurement time of 20 seconds is recommended, regardless of the beep sound.

Pharmaceutical advice

Children should be supervised by an adult throughout the measurement. After use, the digital thermometer should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children. When comparing temperatures between two thermometers, it is possible to have two different readings even if both thermometers are within their accuracy tolerances. The difference in the way each reading is taken and the tolerance range of the thermometer may account for the variability of about 0.1 °C.
