It is indicated for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
The recommended dose is1 Gastropan capsule twice daily. The capsules are taken whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) at least 30 minutes before meals (preferably in the morning and at midday). The capsules can also be taken without eating a meal afterwards.
The capsules should be swallowed whole; they should not be chewed, crushed or broken before swallowing, so that the active substance is not released prematurely.
Do not use Gastropan:
- Inchildren under 11 years of age.
-If you are allergic to peppermint oil, caraway oil, menthol or any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product (listed in section 6).
-In case of liver diseases, inflammatory diseases of the bile ducts (cholangitis), achlorhydria (absence of gastric acid), gallstones and any other biliary disorders.
Like all medicines, Gastropan may cause side effects, although not all people will experience them. In this case, the following have been observed:
Eachgastro-resistant softgel Gastropan contains as active ingredient: 90 mg essential oil ofMentha x piperitaL., (peppermint oil) and 50 mg essential oil ofCarum carviL., (caraway oil).
The other ingredients are: Gelatin ,succinylated; glycerol 85%; polysorbate 80; propylene glycol; glycerol monostearate 40-55; copolymer of methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate (1:1) 30% dispersion; medium chain triglycerides; sodium dodecylsulphate; sorbitol liquid (not crystallised); titanium dioxide (E 171); iron oxide yellow (E 172); patent blue V (E 131); quinoline yellow (E 104).
The gastroresistantcapsules should be taken until symptoms disappear, usually within two to four weeks. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if symptoms persist or worsen during the use of this medicine or if other side effects not mentioned occur.
