PECTO-TISANA PLUS is a food supplement made up of four medicinal plants that helps to overcome respiratory ailments. Eucalyptus: The EMA and ESCOP (1,2) recommend it for the relief of coughs associated with colds or the symptomatic treatment of upper respiratory tract colds. The essential oil of its leaves, rich in eucalyptol or 1,8-cineole, is what gives it its antitussive, expectorant and antiseptic activity. Marshmallow contains mucilage, which coats the pharyngeal mucosa and gives it an anti-inflammatory action, thus reducing cough and irritation, as well as promoting rehydration. The EMA approves its use for the treatment of pharyngeal irritation associated with dry cough(1,3). Thyme leaf contains essential oils including thymol. Thyme has antitussive activity (approved by EMA and ESCOP)(1,4), as well as expectorant and antiseptic activity, due to the elimination of thymol and carvacrol via the respiratory tract.
