Cinfa Ebacin Forte 20 Mg, 10 film-coated tablets

Ebacin Forte 20 mg is a medicine that contains the active substance ebastine. It belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines (allergy medicines).

Ebastine Forte 20 mg is used to relieve allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (sneezing, nasal itching, runny nose, nasal congestion and red, watery eyes) and urticaria (hives) with mild symptoms.

Ebacin Forte is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over, when the 10 mg dose is not sufficient.

Do not use Ebastine Forte 20 mg:

• In children under 12 years of age.
• If you are allergic to ebastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Like all medicines, Ebacin Forte can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects have been observed in clinical trials and post-marketing experience:

Very common

• Headache.

Frequent

• Drowsiness.
• Dry mouth.

Rare

• Hypersensitivity reactions: allergic reactions (such as anaphylaxis and angioedema).
• Nervousness, insomnia.
• Dizziness, decreased sensation of touch or sensation, decreased or altered taste.
• Palpitations, tachycardia.
• Abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, digestive problems.
• Liver inflammation (hepatitis), cholestasis, abnormal liver function tests (increased transaminases, gamma-GT, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin).
• Urticaria, rash, dermatitis.
• Menstrual disorders.
• Edema (swelling due to fluid accumulation), fatigue.

Consult your doctor before taking Ebastine Forte from Cinfa if you have any of the following conditions:

• If your electrocardiogram results are altered.
• If you have high levels of potassium in your blood.
• If you have severe liver disease.
• If you are taking any medicines used to treat fungal infections(azole antifungals) or medicines used to treat certain infections (macrolide antibiotics).
• If you are being treated with rifampicin, a type of medicine used to treat tuberculosis.
• Do not use this medicine if you have an acute allergic emergency, as it takes 1 to 3 hours for ebastine (the active substance in this medicine) to take effect.
• If you experience symptoms such as throat tightness, difficulty breathing, hoarseness or slurred speech, wheezing ('whistling' when breathing), low blood pressure, repeated vomiting and/or loss of consciousness, you should seek emergency medical attention because of the risk of anaphylaxis.
