Bucosil 5 mg/5 mg 20 Orange Flavoured Sucking Tablets

It is a medicine formulated with chlorhexidine and benzocaine, two active ingredients that act together for a double antiseptic, disinfectant and local anaesthetic action. Therefore, its use is indicated for the symptomatic relief of mild infections of the mouth and throat such as canker sores and sore throat, with pain and without fever.

It comes in a convenient format of 20 orange-flavoured sucking tablets.

Suitable for use in adults and children from 6 years of age.

Dissolve slowly in the mouth 1 tablet every 2 or 3 hours, without exceeding the maximum dose of tablets per day.

Do not use Bucosil:

• In children under 6 years of age.
• In case of allergy to chlorhexidine, benzocaine, or any of the components of this medicine.
• If you do not tolerate other local anaesthetics such as para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), parabens or para-phenylenediamine (a component of hair dye).

Like all medicines, Bucosil may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Specifically, the side effects that may occur, the frequency of which has not been determined, are:

• Possible discolouration of the teeth. This pigmentation or staining can occur especially in people who have accumulations of tartar plaque. This alteration of the colour of the teeth is not permanent and can be removed by oral cleaning. The colour of fillings can also be altered, in which case this colouring can be permanent.
• Alteration in taste perception.
• Irritation in the mouth or on the tip of the tongue, which are usually temporary.
• Allergic reactions to chlorhexidine or benzocaine.

The active ingredients in Bucosil are chlorhexidine and benzocaine. Specifically, each tablet contains 5 mg of chlorhexidine dihydrochloride and 5 mg of benzocaine.

The other excipients are: mannitol (E 421), microcrystalline cellulose (E 460), povidone, magnesium stearate, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium (E 954), menthol flavouring (contains maltodextrin from potato and maize and gum arabic) and orange flavouring (contains maltodextrin from maize).

This medicine comes in the form of sucking tablets with a pleasant orange flavour.
