It is a medicine formulated with hydrochloride, indicated for the treatment of acute non-specific and occasional diarrhoea. It helps to stop diarrhoea by increasing stool consistency and decreasing the frequency of liquid stools.

Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age

The recommended dose for adults is 2 capsules (4 mg) as an initial dose followed by 1 capsule (2 mg) after each diarrhoeal stool.

The maximum adult dose is 8 capsules (16 mg) per day.

In children over 12 years of age, the recommended dose is 1 capsule (2 mg) as a starting dose followed by 1 capsule (2 mg) after each diarrhoeal stool.

The maximum daily dose for them should be related to body weight:

Do not use:

• Under 12 years of age.
• If you are allergic to loperamide hydrochloride or any other part of this medicinal product.
• If you experience acute dysentery, which is characterised by blood in the stools and a high fever (over 38°C).
• If you have acute ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the intestine).
• If you experience severe diarrhoea (pseudomembranous colitis) after taking antibiotics.
• If you experience diarrhoea as a result of infection with organisms such as Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter.
• If constipation, abdominal distention (bloating) or ileus (absence of bowel movements) occurs, treatment should be stopped promptly and your doctor should be consulted.

Aurovitas Loperamide may cause side effects like other medicines, although not all patients will experience them. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you think any of the side effects you experience are serious.

• If you develop intestinal obstruction, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
• Treatment with this medicine is only symptomatic, so diarrhoea should be treated based on its cause.
• If you are taking any narcotic painkillers, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine, as it may interact with them.

The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride. Each hard capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride.

The other ingredients (excipients) are:

• Capsule contents: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, talc, magnesium stearate.
• Capsule shell: titanium dioxide (E171), gelatine.
• Black ink: shellac shellac, iron oxide black (E172).
