- Royal jelly contains a high proportion of water, as well as sugars, proteins, lipids, minerals and vitamins, and a large number of substances such as 10-HDA (10-hydroxydecenoic acid) and 10-H2DA (10-hydroxy-2-decanoic acid) fatty acids. Although all ancient civilisations consumed royal jelly, its properties were not identified until a few decades ago.
