Worker bees produce royal jelly to feed one particular bee, which will become queen. This unique food gives her a longevity up to 40 times longer than average and an extraordinary reproductive capacity. Royal jelly contains mainly water, sugars, proteins, lipids, minerals, vitamins and bioactive compounds such as the fatty acids 10-HDA (10-hydroxydecenoic acid) and 10-H2DA (10-hydroxy-2-decanoic acid).
