High Fructose Gel provides 55g of carbohydrate and 250 mg of sodium per gel from maltodextrin and fructose in a 10:8 ratio.
This formulation based on "multi-transportable carbohydrates" has been shown in studies* that in prolonged exercise, the use of carbohydrates that are absorbed in the intestine by different transporters is the only way to increase the rate of assimilation and oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates above 60 g/hour*.
To achieve this, research confirms that a combination of carbohydrate sources is ideal. We have opted for Maltodextrin, to control the molecular weight/osmolarity, and the other must be Fructose.
