Cystitis: symptoms, causes and treatments

Cystitis is inflammation of the urinary tract caused by a bacterial infection. In today’s post, we talk about how to prevent it and fight it. Keep reading!37% of women experience at least one episode of cystitis at some point in their lives, 20% have another episode in the following months and 12% suffer more than two episodes per year, especially between the ages of 20-30, coinciding with the start of sexual activity and greater sexual activity, and at 50, after the climacteric stage.

The main cause is the bacterium Escherichia coli, which is responsible for 80% of infectious episodes.

How does cystitis develop?

Discomfort in the urinary tract is usually caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) from the intestine. When these bacteria, which are found in the intestine, manage to reach the urethra and bladder, they can settle there and cause discomfort, leading to cystitis. Women tend to suffer from it more often than men, because anatomically their urethra is shorter. Among the symptoms that indicate this infection, blood in the urine and discomfort when going to the toilet are particularly common.

How can cystitis be prevented?

Below, we are sharing a set of hygiene and health measures to prevent cystitis:
