Sebamed is a brand dedicated to the creation of products for therapeutic skin care, which aim to respect the skin's protective acid mantle. These products have the same pH as the skin in its optimum conditions (5.5), so they cleanse and nourish the skin, without affecting its natural protective function. Sebamed 's efficacy is supported by more than 120 scientific investigations. The brand also offers hair care products.
The pH (potentia hydrogenii) is the indicator of the level of acidity of water-containing elements. Therefore, it is possible to measure the pH of many natural elements, such as chemicals, food, hygiene and cleaning products, as well as skin and hair, because the human body is mostly water. Sebamed products have a pH of 5.5, which is the same level as the human body has when the skin is healthy. Water has pH7, which is considered "neutral", but which is higher than the pH level of the skin, so products which claim to have a neutral pH in their description are not at the same level as the skin in terms of acidity. Sebamed products have the same acidity as the skin surface and therefore do not damage the acid mantle, in contrast to traditional soaps, which have a pH of between 9 and 12.
