It is a company with more than 100 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector. Its history began in Chicago in 1899, when a 17-year-old William Mathias Scholl moved to the city to work in a small shoe shop specialising in comfortable footwear. The curiosity generated by the large number of people suffering from foot pain led the young William to study medicine and above all to study the anatomy and physiology of the foot.

In 1904, after finishing his studies in 1904, at the age of 22, Dr. Scholl patented his first invention: the Foot Eazer. The Foot Eazer, an insole that was inserted inside the shoe to reinforce the arch of the foot and support the arch, was revolutionary for its time. In 1907 he founded his own company Scholl Manufacturing Co. Inc.

In 1912 Science considered him as a primary source for the development and creation of new products, in 1912 William Scholl founded the Illinois College of Chiropody and Orthopaedics - soon to become America's foremost institution in the field.

In the 1920s he created the first line of footwear designed to care for the anatomy of the foot. A decade later, Dr. Scholl created a line of compression stockings for the relief of heavy and varicose legs. In the 1940s Dr. Scholl created and first introduced Dr. Scholl insoles to the market, which soon became the company's best-seller.

It was the 1960s that saw the launch of one of the most remarkable products that would go on to transform the company: the Dr. Scholl Pescura anatomical sandals. The sandals, known simply as"Scholls" to the public, quickly became an international success and adorned the feet of celebrities such as Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton who made the sandals an icon of style and comfort.

In 1968, at the age of 86, William Scholl died. However, his aim to improve people's comfort, health and well-being through foot care and concern for their feet lives on through his company.

In 2004, Dr. Scholl celebrates its 100th anniversary with a new brand identity, a new generation of foot care products and a line of footwear to ensure maximum comfort in a stylish and innovative way.

In 2008, they unveiled a new brand of footwear designed by renowned Italian designers and sold in the most exclusive shoe stores. With the perfect combination of style, comfort and technology, this line encompasses all the values that make up the brand. Today, more than 100 years after its foundation, Scholl is still synonymous with foot health and comfort in more than 70 countries around the world, and remains true to its founder's original passion and philosophy: to improve people's health, comfort and well-being through their feet.
