The history of the Chiesi Group dates back to 6 July 1935, when Giacomo Chiesi, a pharmacist who dreamed of research, bought the Parmesan Pharmaceutical Laboratory, thus beginning his entrepreneurial adventure.

What started as a small provincial laboratory with only two employees has grown into an international company with more than 3,800 employees seventy-five years later. This journey, thanks to the Chiesi family's determination and passion for research, transformed the initial idea of a small business into a company that is continuously expanding.

At the end of the 1970s when the first foreign subsidiary was opened in Brazil, the company began to make its way internationally, and went on to become a group operating in the United States and Europe. to become a group operating on five continents, with 24 affiliates, including production, research and distribution of its pharmaceutical products in more than 60 countries.

The history of the Chiesi company is the story of a personal dream that became a collective dream: "To create innovative tools to provide effective treatment"; this is what Chiesi does every day with passion and determination.

They aim to be recognised as an international research-focused Group that develops and delivers innovative value-added pharmaceutical solutions to improve people's quality of life and want to maintain a high quality corporate team, characterised by personal trust and a spirit of collaboration.

Chiesi currently employs more than 200 people in Spain and the company's track record in Spain has exceeded all expectations. Whereas in 1995 it was ranked 98th in the pharmaceutical market sales ranking, today it is around 40th. This evolution is mainly due to three factors: the launch of innovative products with great therapeutic potential obtained from its own R&D; the development of the full potential of its product portfolio; its successful licensing policy.

Chiesi Spain has a broad portfolio of products, which are mainly concentrated in three therapeutic areas: cardiovascular, respiratory and neonatology. For Chiesi, there can be no competitiveness without innovation, and without research there is no innovation either. That is why the company invests large amounts of resources every year to develop or perfect innovative treatments to improve patients' health and quality of life.

The achievement of this objective depends on Chiesi 's ability to respond to changes in business needs with sufficient speed and efficiency.since 2000, Chiesi Spain has joined the group's R&D investment policy and a significant number of phase III clinical trials are being developed in Spain. As in the other countries in which it operates, the ChiesiGroup maintainsan active alliance policy in Spain and has signed agreements with companies with which it shares scientific, strategic and commercial synergies. Chiesi Spain achieved a turnover of more than 72 million euros in 2013.
