What is Enandol 25 mg and what is it used for?

Enandol is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic belonging to the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Enandol tablets are used in adults for the short-term symptomatic treatment of acute pain of mild to moderate intensity, such as muscle, joint, menstrual or dental pain.

Who it is intended for

Suitable for use in adults over 18 years of age.

How to use

The required dose of the medicine may vary depending on the type, intensity and duration of the pain. In general, the recommended dose is 1 Enandol tablet (equivalent to 25 mg dexketoprofen) every 8 hours, not exceeding 3 tablets a day (75 mg)

In elderly patients, patients with renal or hepatic problems, it is recommended to start treatment with a maximum of 2 tablets per day (50 mg dexketoprofen).

Contraindications

Do not use Enandol 25 mg:

- In children under 18 years of age.

- In case of allergy todexketoprofen or to any of the excipients present in the composition of this medicinal product.

- In case of allergyto acetylsalicylic acid or to any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

- If youhave asthma or have had asthma attacks, acute allergic rhinitis (a short period of swelling of the mucous membrane of the nose), nasal polyps (fleshy formations inside the nose due to allergy), urticaria (skin rash), angioedema (swelling of the skin).(swelling of the face, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing) or wheezing in the chest after taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;

- I youhave had photoallergic or phototoxic reactions (special form of redness or burning of skin exposed to sunlight) while taking ketoprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) or fibrates (medicines used to reduce blood fat levels);peptic ulcer, stomach or intestinal bleeding, or if you have had bleeding, ulceration or perforation of the stomach or intestine in the past;

- If you have chronic digestive problems (e.g. indigestion, heartburn); If you have had stomach or intestinal bleeding or perforation in the past, due to previous use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for pain;

- If youhave chronic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis);

- If you have severe heart failure, moderate to severe kidney failure or severe liver failure;

- If youhave bleeding disorders or blood clotting disorders;

- If youare severely dehydrated (have lost a lot of body fluid) due to vomiting, diarrhoea or insufficient fluid intake;

- If you arein the third trimester of pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Side effects

As with all medicines on the market, Enandol 25 mg may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case, the following have been observed:

  • Frequent: nausea and/or vomiting, mainly pain in the upper abdominal quadrant, diarrhoea, digestive disorders (dyspepsia).
  • Infrequent:rotating sensation (vertigo), dizziness, drowsiness, sleep disturbances, nervousness, headache, palpitations, hot flushes, inflammation of the stomach wall (gastritis), stomach pain (gastritis).(gastritis), constipation, dry mouth, flatulence, skin rash, fatigue, pain, fever and chills, general malaise.
  • Rare:peptic ulcer, peptic ulcer perforation or bleeding (which may manifest with vomiting of blood or black stools), fainting, elevated blood pressure, slow breathing, blood retention, and other symptoms.(e.g., swelling of the ankles), laryngeal oedema, loss of appetite (e.g., loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite).loss of appetite (anorexia), abnormal sensation, itchy rash, acne, increased sweating, lower back pain, frequent urination, menstrual disturbances, prostatic disturbances, liver function tests, liver function tests, kidney function tests.abnormal liver function tests (blood tests), liver cell damage (hepatitis), acute renal failure.

Composition

The active substance is dexketoprofen (as dexketoprofen trometamol). Specifically, each Enandol tablet contains 25 mg of dexketoprofen. The other excipients in the core are: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch (Type A) (potato starch), glyceroldistearate.Tablet coating: dry lacquer consisting of: hypromellose, titanium dioxide and macrogol 6000, and propylene glycol (E-1520).

Pharmaceutical advice

We advise taking Enandol 25 mg on a fullstomach and always take the lowest effective dose. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms. If you have an infection, consult a doctor without delay if symptoms (such as fever and pain) persist or worsen.
